The first thing anyone notices about this editor is how quickly it opens a document. A several hundred page scanned file appears while a heavier suite is still drawing its splash screen, and page navigation stays instant afterwards. On a machine that spends the day in and out of PDFs, that alone changes how the tool gets used.

The editing side is genuinely complete rather than a viewer with annotations bolted on. Text edits happen in place with font matching, pages are inserted, extracted, rotated, cropped and reordered from the thumbnail pane, and content can be moved between documents by dragging thumbnails from one window to another. The Plus edition adds full form creation, so fillable fields, checkboxes, dropdowns and calculation scripts can be built from scratch or laid over a scanned layout.

OCR turns scans into searchable text across a wide language set, with a choice between overlaying recognised text under the original image and replacing the page content outright. Recognition can run across a folder in one batch, which is the practical way to deal with an archive of scanned paperwork.

The markup tools are the part reviewers live in: highlight, strikeout, sticky notes, stamps, measurement, callouts and a typewriter tool for filling non-interactive forms. Comments export and import as a separate file so a review pass can travel without the full document, and redaction removes the underlying content rather than covering it.

Installation walkthrough

These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.

1. Close any running PDF handler so the file association can be set during setup.
2. Disable real-time protection until the installation has completed.
3. Extract the archive to any folder and run setup as administrator.
4. Select the OCR language packs required during the component stage.
5. Set the default PDF handler and the virtual printer after the first launch.
