Overview

About Microsoft Office 2021-2024 Professional Plus

This image carries both perpetual generations in one package. The 2024 release is the newer one and the sensible default on a current machine, while 2021 stays in the image for anything that has to match an existing office fleet or a macro library written against it. One download covers both cases, which is the whole reason for the combined package.

The 2024 release brings the interface refresh, better performance on large files, improved accessibility checking, and the newest Excel additions on top of the dynamic array engine that arrived in 2021. Word gets sharper rendering on high density displays, PowerPoint gets updated recording and camera handling, and Outlook improves search and the reading experience.

Both generations install the full Professional Plus application set: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Access, Publisher and OneNote. The cheaper consumer bundles drop Access and Publisher, so this edition avoids the situation where a colleague sends a file nobody in the office can open.

Setup runs offline with no component streaming, and both 32-bit and 64-bit installers are present. The 64-bit build is right for almost every machine, with the 32-bit path kept for legacy add-ins that have not been rebuilt.

Installation

Installation walkthrough

These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.

  1. Remove any existing Office release, including OEM trials, before starting.
  2. Disable real-time protection until setup finishes.
  3. Mount or extract the image and run the setup launcher as administrator.
  4. Choose the generation, the architecture and the interface language.
  5. Reboot once, then open Word to confirm the suite launches cleanly.
Real-time protection flags installers of this type on heuristics alone. Pause it before extracting and turn it back on once the install has finished and the application has been opened once.

Questions

Frequently asked about this title

Can both generations be installed together?
No. Pick one per machine. Two Office generations conflict over shared components.
Which one should be chosen?
2024 unless something specifically requires 2021, such as an existing fleet or a macro library.
Is Teams included?
No. This is the desktop application set only.
Does an OEM trial need removing?
Yes. Preloaded trials must be uninstalled first or setup will fail partway.
