Terms of use

What the index is, what it does not promise, and what is expected of the people reading it.

Scope

What these terms cover

These terms apply to anyone reading this site. Using it means accepting them. They cover what the index is, what it does not promise, and what is expected of the people reading it.

The index is a catalogue. It lists software with descriptions, version numbers, sizes and notes, and it points at transfer paths. It is not a shop, it does not take payment, and it does not operate an account system.

Use of the index

What is expected

  • Nothing here may be resold, repackaged for sale, or presented as an original source
  • Automated scraping that degrades the index for other readers is not permitted
  • Entries and their notes may be quoted with attribution, not republished wholesale
  • Deliberately filing false takedown notices or false requests is not permitted
  • Local law applies to whoever is reading, and complying with it is their responsibility
No warranty

What is not promised

Everything here is provided as it is. No promise is made that a listed package works on a given machine, that a transfer path is reachable at a given moment, that a version number is current, or that any part of the index is complete.

Entries are checked before listing and rechecked on a refresh cycle, which catches most problems but not all of them. Anyone relying on a listed detail for anything that matters should verify it themselves.

No liability is accepted for any loss arising from use of this site or of anything reached through it, including data loss, machine downtime, or the cost of putting either right.

Third party material

Links away from this site

Transfer paths point at systems that are not operated from here. Whatever those systems do, whatever they collect and whatever they serve is outside the control of this index, and their own terms apply once a reader is on them.

Product names, version numbers and descriptions refer to software made by other parties. Those names belong to their respective owners and are used here to identify what an entry refers to, which is the only purpose they serve on this site.

Changes

How these terms change

These terms are revised when the way the index works changes. The current version is always the one on this page, and continuing to use the site after a revision means accepting it.

Questions about anything on this page go through the contact page. Rights holders should use the takedown page instead, which is faster and sets out exactly what is needed.
