What makes a message easy to act on
- Name the exact title and version, copied from the entry rather than paraphrased
- Say which transfer path was used and at what point it failed
- For an installation problem, say what the installer reported and at which stage
- For wrong details on an entry, say what the correct value should be
- For a dead link from elsewhere, include the address that was followed
How messages are handled
Messages are read in the order they arrive and worked through alongside the refresh cycle. Reports about broken transfer paths are handled first, because a broken path affects everyone looking at that entry rather than one person.
Requests for missing titles do not belong here. They go on the requests page, where they enter the queue properly and are worked through on each pass.
Rights holders should use the takedown page rather than this form, since a notice needs specific information to be actionable and that page sets out exactly what is required.
