Nitro's design decision was to make the interface look like the office suite everyone in the building already uses. The ribbon layout, the tab names and the placement of common commands all mirror the word processor, which sounds cosmetic until a hundred people have to be retrained. In practice most of them never notice they have changed application.

The editing model covers the working set properly. Text edits in place with reflow, images and objects are moved and resized directly, pages insert, extract, rotate, split and merge from a thumbnail panel, and multiple documents combine into one file with a bookmark structure built from the source names. Optical recognition turns scans into searchable text across a wide language set.

Conversion is the feature the Enterprise build is usually bought for. Documents export to word processing, spreadsheet and presentation formats with tables, lists and layout preserved, and the batch converter runs an entire folder through in one pass. For an organisation sitting on a decade of archived documents that need to become editable again, that batch pass is the whole justification.

The Enterprise build adds the deployment and governance side: silent installation with configuration files for rolling out across a fleet, group policy templates for locking settings centrally, an audit trail of document actions, certificate based signing with validation, redaction and sanitising, and permission control that survives the document being forwarded.

Installation walkthrough

These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.

1. Close all browsers, since the document handler registers during setup.
2. Disable real-time protection until the install has completed.
3. Extract the archive and run setup as administrator.
4. Use the configuration file for a silent deployment across multiple machines if required.
5. Reboot once so the virtual printer driver registers correctly.
