Mastercam 2026
Computer aided manufacturing that turns a solid model into verified toolpaths and machine ready code for milling, turning and wire work.
About Mastercam 2026
This is the stage between a finished design and metal actually being cut. A solid model comes in, stock is defined, tools are chosen from a library, and toolpath strategies generate the motion that removes material. What comes out is code a specific machine understands, produced by a post processor written for that machine rather than a generic output.
The strategy set covers the range of work a shop sees. Two and three axis milling for plates and pockets, multiaxis for shapes that cannot be reached from one direction, high speed strategies that keep tool engagement constant so a cutter lasts, roughing that respects the rest material left by a previous operation, and finishing passes that hold a specified scallop height.
Verification is the part that prevents expensive mistakes. The simulation runs the actual generated motion against the stock model and the fixture, showing gouges, collisions with the holder or the table, rapid moves through material and any travel beyond machine limits. Catching a collision on screen costs a minute, and catching it on the machine costs a spindle.
Around the core there is a tool library with holders and cutting data, a job setup sheet generated for the operator at the machine, associativity so a changed model regenerates the toolpaths rather than requiring them to be rebuilt, and a post processor library covering a very wide range of controls with the ability to edit one for a specific machine.
What is included in this build
- Two axis, three axis and multiaxis milling strategies
- Turning, mill turn and wire electrical discharge machining support
- High speed toolpaths maintaining constant tool engagement
- Rest material aware roughing and scallop height controlled finishing
- Full simulation against stock, fixture, holder and machine travel limits
- Tool library with holders, cutting data and speed and feed suggestions
- Associative toolpaths that regenerate when the model changes
- Post processor library covering a wide range of machine controls
Changed in version 28.0.7534
- Faster toolpath calculation on large multiaxis jobs
- Improved collision reporting detail in simulation
- Additional post processors added to the bundled library
- Better handling of imported models with poor surface quality
- Reduced memory use on very large stock models
Installation walkthrough
These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.
- Check free disk space first, since the bundled libraries are large.
- Disable real-time protection until installation and the library packs have both finished.
- Extract the archive to a short path with no spaces in any folder name.
- Run setup as administrator and install the post processor library when offered.
- Reboot once, then set the tool library and job folder locations before starting a job.
