SketchUp Pro 2026
Push and pull modelling that stays fast to think in, with LayOut for documentation and the full extension and import set enabled.
About SketchUp Pro 2026
SketchUp's appeal is that the modelling metaphor matches how people describe buildings out loud. Draw a rectangle, pull it up, and it is a wall. That directness makes it the fastest tool in the room for early design work, massing studies, interior layouts and anything where the shape needs testing before it needs documenting.
The Pro edition is where it becomes a production tool rather than a sketch pad. LayOut turns a model into a proper drawing set with viewports, scaled views, dimensions, annotation and title blocks that update when the model changes. Solid tools handle boolean operations properly, and the importer and exporter set covers DWG, DXF, IFC, OBJ, FBX and the other formats a consultant will ask for.
The extension ecosystem is unusually good and does a lot of the heavy lifting. Rendering engines, parametric component generators, quantity takeoff, terrain modelling and structural tools all plug in, and the extension manager keeps them updated without a manual file copy.
Component and group structure is what keeps a model workable at scale. A component edited once updates everywhere it appears, tags control visibility per scene, and saved scenes carry camera, style and visibility state so a walkthrough or a drawing set can be regenerated at any point.
What is included in this build
- Push and pull direct modelling with inference based snapping
- LayOut for scaled drawing sets with dimensions, annotation and title blocks
- Solid tools for boolean union, subtract, intersect and trim
- Full importer and exporter set including DWG, DXF, IFC, OBJ and FBX
- Components that update everywhere they appear from a single edit
- Tags and saved scenes carrying camera, style and visibility state
- Extension manager with access to the full extension ecosystem
- Styles system for hand drawn, technical and presentation output looks
Changed in version 26.2.243
- Faster viewport performance on large models with many components
- Improved DWG import handling of layers and blocks
- LayOut rendering of viewports made faster on multi-page documents
- Additional inference behaviour when modelling on sloped faces
- Extension manager updates handled more reliably
Installation walkthrough
These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.
- Update the graphics driver first, since the viewport depends heavily on OpenGL support.
- Disable real-time protection until the install has finished.
- Extract the archive and run setup as administrator.
- Choose the interface language during setup.
- Install extensions after first launch, not before.
