Luxion KeyShot Pro
Real time rendering that takes CAD geometry straight in, with a material library, HDRI lighting and animation, and no scene setup ritual before the first image.
About Luxion KeyShot Pro
KeyShot is built around a simple observation: most people rendering a product do not want to learn a rendering engine, they want a good image of the part they just modelled. Import geometry, drag a material onto it, drag a lighting environment into the scene, and the real time view is already showing something close to the final result. Sample quality builds up continuously rather than requiring a render to be started.
The import path is the practical strength. Native geometry from the major CAD packages comes in directly with its part structure intact, and a live link keeps the scene attached to the source file so a design change updates the render without reassigning a single material. For an engineer producing images alongside an ongoing design, that link is the whole workflow.
Materials are physically based and the bundled library is large enough to cover most product work without authoring anything: metals, plastics, glass, liquids, fabrics, painted and coated finishes, all adjustable and saveable back into the library. Labels and textures project onto surfaces with a mapping widget rather than requiring UV work on the geometry.
Lighting comes from HDRI environments with a pin based editor for adding and moving highlights directly on the product, which is faster than positioning virtual lights and gives a more convincing result. The Pro edition adds animation, the KeyShotXR interactive turntable output, scripting, and the configurator for building product variants from one scene.
What is included in this build
- Real time rendering with continuously refining quality rather than a start and wait cycle
- Direct import of native CAD geometry with part structure preserved
- Live link keeping the scene attached to the source file through design changes
- Large physically based material library covering metals, plastics, glass, fabrics and coatings
- Label and texture projection with a mapping widget, no UV work required
- HDRI lighting with a pin based editor for placing highlights directly on the product
- Animation and the interactive turntable output in the Pro edition
- Configurator for generating product variants from a single scene
Changed in version 2024.3 13.2.1.1
- Faster GPU rendering with improved memory handling on large scenes
- Material library expanded with additional finishes
- Import support extended to newer CAD format revisions
- Lighting pin editor gains finer highlight shaping controls
- Reduced scene load times on assemblies with many parts
Installation walkthrough
These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.
- Install the current graphics driver from the GPU vendor before starting.
- Extract the archive to a short path with no spaces.
- Run setup as administrator and install the material and environment library when offered.
- Point the resources folder at a drive with space for libraries and renders.
- Enable GPU rendering in preferences if the card supports it.
