A very large amount of professional drawing work is two dimensional and always will be: floor plans, sections, details, schematics, site layouts, fabrication drawings and anything else that ends up printed at a known scale with dimensions on it. This is the drafting half of the flagship package, and for that work nothing is missing.

The drawing environment is the familiar one. Lines, polylines, arcs, splines and hatches drawn with object snaps, polar and object tracking, dynamic input and a command line that experienced drafters drive faster than any toolbar. Layers, linetypes, lineweights and plot styles control what appears and how heavily it prints, and blocks with attributes keep repeated components consistent and schedulable.

Annotation is where a drawing becomes a document. Dimension styles, multileaders, tables, fields that update from drawing properties, and annotative scaling so the same text reads correctly whether the view is placed at one scale or another. Layouts hold multiple viewports at different scales on one sheet, and the sheet set manager keeps a whole drawing package numbered and issued as one thing.

Because the file format is shared with the full package, drawings pass in both directions without conversion. External references link consultant drawings in rather than copying them, so an updated background propagates to every sheet that references it instead of needing a manual replacement in each one.

Installation walkthrough

These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.

1. Disable real-time protection until installation has completed.
2. Extract the archive to a short path on a drive with at least 20 GB free.
3. Close any other Autodesk application before starting setup.
4. Run setup as administrator and choose the interface language.
5. Reboot once, then set the template, plot style and support file paths before drawing.
