This is a consolidated licensing tool rather than three separate ones. Desktop editions, the office suites and the development environment are all handled from a single window, with the installed products detected on launch and listed with their current status so nothing has to be identified by hand before starting.

The per-product approach is the useful part. Instead of one pass that touches everything on the machine, each detected product is handled individually with its own method, and the tool explains which method it intends to use before doing anything. On a machine with a mix of products in different states, that granularity avoids disturbing something that already works.

There is a status and information panel that is worth using on its own. It reports the installed edition, the build, the servicing channel and the current state for every detected product, which answers most of the questions that come up when a machine is behaving oddly, without changing anything at all.

The portable build runs without installing, which suits a technician working across several machines from one USB stick. A log is written for every run, changes made can be reverted from within the tool, and everything works with no connection at all, which is the point on a machine being prepared offline.

Installation walkthrough

These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.

1. Pause real-time protection before extracting, since tools of this type are flagged on heuristics alone.
2. Extract the archive to a short path with no spaces in the folder name.
3. Run the executable as administrator, or use the portable build directly from a USB stick.
4. Read the detected product list and select individual products rather than running a blanket pass.
5. Reboot once when the run completes and check the status panel afterwards.
