Overview

About Office C2R Install and Install Lite

This tool exists because the official deployment path for a modern office suite is a hand written configuration file and a command line switch, which is fine for an administrator with a deployment share and miserable for one person with one machine. The front end turns that configuration file into a set of dropdown menus and checkboxes.

Pick the release, pick the edition, pick the channel, pick the architecture and pick the interface language, then untick the applications that are not wanted. The tool builds the configuration, fetches only the selected components from source, and runs the installation without ever presenting a bundle of unwanted applications that then have to be removed one at a time.

Two builds ship in the same package. The full version keeps the whole option set including channel switching, component level control and the offline download mode that saves a full image to disk for reuse on other machines. The Lite version strips the interface down to the handful of choices most people actually make, which is faster to work through on a machine being set up in a hurry.

There is a maintenance side too. The tool can remove an existing suite cleanly, including the leftovers a failed uninstall usually leaves behind, repair a broken install without a full rebuild, switch an existing install between channels, and report exactly what is installed and where it came from. Everything runs portable from the extracted folder.

Installation

Installation walkthrough

These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.

  1. Disable real-time protection before extracting, since tools that touch installer state are routinely flagged.
  2. Extract the whole folder rather than running the executable from inside the archive.
  3. Remove any existing office suite with the tool's own removal function first.
  4. Run the executable as administrator and work down the option panel from release to language.
  5. Leave the machine connected while the components are fetched, then reboot once when setup reports completion.
Real-time protection flags installers of this type on heuristics alone. Pause it before extracting and turn it back on once the install has finished and the application has been opened once.

Questions

Frequently asked about this title

Does it include the suite itself?
No. It fetches the components from source, which is why the download is small and the install pass needs a connection.
What is the difference between the two builds?
The full build exposes every option including channel switching and offline images. Lite reduces it to the common choices.
Can it remove an existing installation?
Yes, and its removal routine clears leftover configuration that a normal uninstall usually leaves behind.
Can the downloaded image be reused?
Yes. Offline download mode saves a full image to disk that installs on other machines without fetching again.
