Overview

About MiniTool Power Data Recovery Business

This build carries all four business tiers in one installer, which matters mostly for who is using it. Standard and Deluxe cover an individual machine, Enterprise covers use across a company's machines, and Technician adds the parts a person recovering data for other people needs, including the bootable rescue builder and portable use from a USB stick.

The scan model is the familiar two stage one. A fast pass reads the file system structures and returns deleted entries with their original paths and names intact, which is the best possible outcome. A full scan reads every sector and rebuilds files from their signatures, losing the original names but finding data after a format, a partition table loss or a volume that reports itself as unformatted.

Scope covers more than a single drive. Whole partitions that vanished from the volume list can be found and their contents recovered, memory cards and USB storage scan the same way as internal drives, and unreadable optical discs are read at a lower level than the operating system attempts. A specific file type can be targeted to keep the result list manageable.

The recovery pass itself is read only. Results are previewed before writing, filtered by type, size and path, and a scan result can be saved so the same volume does not have to be scanned twice. The Technician tier's bootable media handles the case that matters most, a machine that will not start at all, by recovering from outside the installed system entirely.

Installation

Installation walkthrough

These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.

  1. Stop using the affected drive immediately, since further writes destroy recoverable data.
  2. Install onto a different volume than the one being recovered, or use the portable build.
  3. Extract the archive and run setup as administrator.
  4. Build the rescue media first if the machine will not boot.
  5. Choose a recovery destination on a separate physical drive before writing anything.
Real-time protection flags installers of this type on heuristics alone. Pause it before extracting and turn it back on once the install has finished and the application has been opened once.

Questions

Frequently asked about this title

Which scan should be run first?
The fast scan. It keeps original file names and finishes quickly. Only run the full scan if the file does not appear.
Can it recover a lost partition?
Yes. Partitions missing from the volume list can be located and their contents recovered.
What does the Technician tier add?
The bootable rescue media builder and portable use, which is what recovering data on other people's machines requires.
Can it be installed on the affected drive?
It should not be. Install elsewhere or use the portable build, otherwise the install may overwrite the data being recovered.
