About AnyDesk
AnyDesk exists because most remote desktop tools fall apart on a connection that is not a local network. The codec it uses is built around interactive frames rather than video, so a cursor moving across a desktop stays ahead of the eye at bandwidth levels where other tools turn into a slideshow. On a stable line the session feels close enough to local that people forget which machine they are typing on.
Getting connected is short. Each installation carries an address, and typing the other side's address opens a request that the remote user accepts. For machines that nobody sits at, unattended access sets a fixed password on the remote end so a session opens without anyone present, which is the mode most people end up using for a render box or a machine in another room.
The session itself carries more than a picture. Files copy in both directions by dragging them into the window or through a paired file manager panel, the clipboard is shared including file contents, and audio from the remote machine can be routed back. Sessions can be recorded to a local file, which is worth turning on when the point of the connection is to document what a machine was doing.
The permission model is per session and reasonably granular. Input control, clipboard access, file transfer, audio and the ability to lock the remote desktop are all separate toggles, and an access control list restricts which addresses may connect at all. A whiteboard layer draws over the shared screen for pointing at things without taking control.

Installation walkthrough
These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.
- Close any other remote access tool before starting, since display hooks can conflict.
- Extract the archive to any folder and run the installer as administrator.
- Allow the display driver component to register when setup prompts for it.
- Set an unattended access password immediately if the machine will be reached without anyone present.
- Restrict the access control list to known addresses before leaving the machine running.
