Illustrator is where logos, packaging artwork, iconography and anything else that has to scale from a business card to a building side gets drawn. Because the output is vector, the same file drives a favicon and a vehicle wrap without a resample step, which is the whole reason the format survives in production work.

The drawing tools cover the range from precise to loose. The pen tool and its curvature variant handle exact geometry, the pencil and blob brush handle sketched shapes, and the shape builder merges and subtracts overlapping paths by dragging across them rather than by hunting through a pathfinder panel. Live corners, live shapes and the width tool keep edits parametric long after the shape was first drawn.

Type is a first class citizen here rather than an afterthought. Variable fonts adjust weight and width on a slider, text wraps around paths and inside shapes, and the whole thing converts to outlines cleanly when a printer asks for it. Global colours and spot swatches survive the conversion to CMYK, so a brand palette does not drift between the screen proof and the press sheet.

Output covers both worlds. Assets export to SVG, PNG and PDF at multiple scales in one pass, print work exports with bleed, crop marks and overprint preview, and artboards let a whole stationery set or icon family live in a single document without becoming unmanageable.

Installation walkthrough

These steps assume a clean machine. If a previous release of the same application is present, deal with that first, since an overlapping install is the most common cause of a setup that stops halfway.

1. Turn off real-time protection until the install has finished.
2. Extract the archive to a short path with no spaces in the folder name.
3. Close all Adobe processes including the background helper service.
4. Run setup as administrator and select the interface language.
5. Reboot once so font caching and shell previews register.
